TSMC Obtains Approval for 0.18-micron Chip Investment in China
January 05, 2007
TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing) has obtained official approval from the Taiwanese government to set up wafer fabrication plants based on 0.18-micron process technology in China. Currently, TSMC's plants in China employ 0.25- and 0.35-micron process technologies. Under the relaxed policy, only manufacturers with six-month mass production of 12-inch silicon wafers at plants in Taiwan are granted such permissions.
